monster mash

Here is my start to my monster moly. With all the great work so far I am excited to see what everyone does in mine and everyone else I hope its up to par with the rest of yours. I may or may not work on it a little more I have not decided. Please give me your opinions.
Hi everyone, finally finished, I was so tired last night I accidently filled four pages, didn't realise my mistake until it was too late!
I don't think this will be a problem as there are still three pages each, sorry about this!

I'm not sure who the monsters are in my picture, maybe all of them! the princess has organised a tea party but the monsters were not invited to this halloween treat and Sylvie has been asked to protect the princess........but Sylvie looks pale maybe bewitched.......will she use that dagger or will she show mercy? the princess serving up spells and potions at her tea party? or is she really an innocent victim?.....I've no idea so this is on it's way to you Esek.

For American people it is probably boring. But for newcomers like me it is very exiting. So I choose Halloween monsters for my first entry.

My first attempt went....errrrr, okay.

So...this is what I have so far. I made a HUGE mistake in my moly...I drew my sketch in pencil, inked it in and was just loving my little characters and then I thought, you know I'm gonna try something new - and I hated it!! So I had to try and figure out how to fix my huge brain fart...Ultimately I redrew the characters on watercolor paper and pasted them over a dark, ink and watercolor sky, I'm still fixing my background and there is actually one more character that you can't see, but maybe he'll be a surprise to all of you when you get my book :)

Also if you look very closely at the right had side you can still see a bit of the green monster who has vanished into the night, hee hee.

Introducing myself - ilovetodoodle

Hello everyone! I'm Kelley also for the purposes of our exchange, ilovetodoodle. I live in Southern California, USA and work fulltime at a boring desk job while I search for that dream art job. I went to school and graduated in Illustration. While I know how to work with digital mediums, nothing can replace a pencil and paintbrush for me. I love the old school method, what can I say?

Most of my work is geared towards children's books, but I also really enjoy life drawing and getting my hands dirty while painting. Favorite medium? has to be watercolor. It's one of the most natural mediums for me and I absolutely love to blend and bleed my colors together...I wish oils were more like that.

I've got my moly started and the drawing is all hashed I just need to get in their and add the color, which has always been the slowest part of my process. However, I am very excited about my first exchange, so I doubt I'll be able to keep myself away from it for long.

It's Me....Michael Nightmare

Hello Everyone,
I go by the name of Michael Nightmare...its my cool artist name haha. I am an art education major which means I teach high school art... specifically photography. I love drawing as well even though its not my strong point in art but I strive everyday to get better and this whole moly exchange is really helping out a lot. I am looking forward to getting artwork from everyone in this group. I love using water color but I am also always trying new mediums.

as far as exchange order usually there is one order that everyone follows other wise some of us may end up with no moly at one point or too many at one point. The best way i've found to set the mail out order is by geographical location and by the first person to finish. The group leader in the end should decided on the order and post it on the side bar.

Introducing myself-esek_one

Hello there!!

I am esek_one and i come from Greece. My real name is Bill :)
I live in a small town nearby Athens and i am a political science student.
I have never been in an art class or taken any lessons about how to draw:(

I would really like to improve my technique. For the time i use Faber-Castell and Carioca markers for my sketches,as shown below.

So i am open to suggestions for improvement...

To end with,i am also interested in exchanging my sketches with yours...I would like to collect sketches from all over the world. They don't have to be something special as for the material you gonna use, just simple sketches done with a marker or a pencil on a paper...

Here is the order for my moleskine exchange:
esek_one(Greece) to bf664(Italy)
bf664(Italy) to muevalapescueza(Spain)
muevalapescueza(Spain) to Quinn 68(UK)
Quinn 68(UK) to LarsPoderdry(USA)
LarsPowderdry(USA) to michael nightmare(USA)
michael nightmare(USA) to k239(USA)
k239(USA) to ilovetodoodle(USA)
ilovetodoodle(USA) to dibujos(Colombia)
dibujos(Colombia)to Lady Orlando(Mexico)
and finally from Lady Orlando(Mexico) back to me(Greece)

Have fun!!

Introducing myself - BF664

Hello everyone!

I am very happy to see this group's 'warm up'-postings (questions, first introducing posts and all the rest). Good! So here I am to add my contribution to the launching phase of the MonstersThemedMolyX46.

As you know, my nickname is bf664 and I'm writing/drawing/posting from Italy.

I just got my new Japanese Moly (JM) and I can't wait to start working on it. Can't you see the small green monster hands that are already holding it? (Sorry for the poor quality of the picture - I've used a fortune scanner)!!

As suggested from previous comments, I will set the them for my personal JM: cute monsters.
Happy drawing to all of you!

clearing up the air

Since there seems to be some confusion and many new people to the exchange process I hope this post will help everyone out I'm not the end all expert just want to help out so it goes smoothly
Everyone starts out in their own Japanese fold moleskine
Everyone does two and a half pages there is an exmple image on group 38
Each round gives the artist a month to work on the entry befor the next mail out
Mailing by who is close geographicaly works best
Group leader to make the mail out list
Who ever you mail to email them for their adress

I hope that helps having it all in one spot again just trying to help out

Introduction - Katya=k239=Ekaterina

About me – I am Russian but now live in Los Angeles. My English is not good enough because I am still learning. I will make mistakes – please have mercy. I am a potter and a printmaker. I like etching and linocut but now I take screen-printing classes at local college. We have very good screen printing program at Pasadena City College. We print T-shirts, posters, stickers, decals; sometimes I print directly in my moleskine. I am already in two Moleskine Exchange Groups(Moly_x_11 and Moly_x_17) and now sign for two more (“Exquisite Corpse” and “Monsters” exchanges).

I bought two new Moleskines for Moly-X-46(Japanese Album) and Moly-X-48(small sketchbook). I have printed both covers with my signature monster. And I also start to print Halloween monsters in my “Monsters”Moly.

for the newbies

Hello everyone...I wanted to post a question, that would hopefully benefit all of us new to the moly exchange process. Is there someone in charge of getting us all the names and addresses of the members in the group? Will just one person organize the order in which me mail out our moly's? I've been a little confused by the process...I noticed Marty does all the blogs for each exchange and works as a moderator of sorts, but it seems like we are on our own as a group after that point. If that's the case do we need to pick someone to get information together or have I missed something and someone's already doing that? I just wanted to clarify, because there was a little blip in the original entering, Marty had my name wrong and my emails and announcements weren't getting to me. Something I of course didn't realize until I went to go and post a comment and got an error message. OOPS. Anyway, that's all been fixed now, but I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page with everyone else :)

Okay, that's my little note, which is really a bunch of questions, but you get the picture. Hope everyone is off being creative...I myself am trying to pass the hours at my boring desk job :) Can't wait to start seeing what everyone's been up to.
